Bethany & Nathaniel | Rock the Frock

The past months I have been dreaming of a way to combine my favorite aspects of the sessions I offer.

The flirty “coupleness” of Engagement sessions.

The fashion side of my Bridal sessions.

The commitment and marriage part of Wedding days.

It’s with much fan fare and pride that I present you with a new session that I’ll be offering.  (Drumroll)

Rock the Frock

That’s right.  This is your chance to put on your wedding dress and go crazy.  There is only 1 requirement.  You HAVE to be married to qualify for these.  Whether it’s been 1 day, 1 year or 100 years all you need is a signed marriage license to have me shoot this session.  Rock the Frock sessions are a great chance to get dressed up again and enjoy your wedding duds.

This past year when we had some snowfall I called up Brianne, a past bride, and asked her if she would put on her dress again.  She said, “Of course!  Everyday I see my dress in the closet and wish I had an excuse to wear it.”  What she said is part of why I wanted to offer these sessions so much.  I can already tell these sessions are going to be some of my favorites.  There is no way to explain just how much more comfortable couples are with each other after a few years of marriage.  You’re more confident, you understand each other better, you flirt better, you photograph better.  It’s a win-win for everyone.

Who should do a Rock the Frock session?
Everyone.
Couples I have shot before who want more photos.
Couples who could not book me for their wedding day.
Couple who have been married 1 day.
Couple who have been married longer than 1 day.:)
Everyone.

If I have shot your wedding or am booked to shoot your wedding, you get a special deal.
The first 5 couples who book one of these sessions will get it at half price!!:)

So my very first Rock the Frock session are the uber-cool Bethany & Nathaniel.  They were married 2 years ago.  Bethany works for VowNow and Nathaniel is a super cool airplane pilot.  On to the images!

Bethany & Nathaniel also had some tips on holding hands and shared their thoughts on the session.

This such a cool idea. It reminds me of trash the dress shoots but better because you don’t ruin the dress. Also I think couples have fun reliving that special day. Dress up is fun no matter how old you are.

Mom R - August 7, 2010 - 12:07 am

Alex, I had been hearing for months about what a great photographer you are, and you have lived up to Bethany’s commendation! Very nicely done.

My top three favorites (in order) are:

1. Nathaniel kissing Bethany’s hand. So gentle. So loving!
(And so beautiful & handsome!) Captures the quiet, romantic side of their love.

20. The last one – captures the genuine fun and happiness of their marriage!

12. By the plane – displays the true joy of marriage – sharing everyday life with the one you love.

Others I really like, in no particular order:
8. in the hanger, in front of the plane
9. B/W coolness!
10. I like the kiss, but it looks a little awkward for some reason.
11. Much better.
13. closer up to the plane
14. You got the rings backwards! (I know it was intentional, but the guy isn’t supposed to know that! :D )
15. Really like it (but for some reason, it gives me the feeling that they are in an aquarium.) :D

Mom R - August 7, 2010 - 12:09 am

Oh, Bethany, make sure Alex counts my comment on the Sneak Peak page!

Mom R - August 7, 2010 - 12:30 am

Now that Alex has captured in time Bethany & Nathaniel’s love so well, I think that next he needs to show their heritage and include the 4 parents with them, also! (By the grace of God, both couples married 25+ years and counting!)

Mom R - August 7, 2010 - 12:34 am

(Hey, the website didn’t keep the “Just Kidding” statement at the end of my previous comment?!)

Mom R - August 7, 2010 - 1:56 am

Okay, I know it looks bad for me to have posted so many times, and Alex doesn’t have to count the last two toward your comment count unless he wants to, but I have a couple more things that I must add.
1) Nathaniel actually got his private pilot license in 2003. Now we are very excited because he just got hired to fly for an airline!
2) Alex, I have spent waaaayyy too much time the last few days browsing around your web site. I love your photography, but I am also very impressed with the whole atmosphere you have created on your web site with the blogs and all (AND it is easy to navigate). Through what I have seen and read here, I must applaud you for being a champion for MARRIAGE! You wrote, “There is only 1 requirement. You HAVE to be married to qualify for these. Whether it’s been 1 day, 1 year or 100 years all you need is a signed marriage license to have me shoot this session.” Three cheers! And I felt this way before I even read your wonderful posts about your wife and about “Kissing is Easy…”
You may never know in this life how many couples you have influenced to stay together through the ebb and flow of love. Thank you!

Therese M - August 7, 2010 - 4:09 am
