What up party people? Today’s post is a smorgasbord of goodies. 1st off, last week I had a little contest. There were tons of great entries on what Danielle & I should do for our 9 year anniversary. I think we’ll mix and match some of the ideas for dates later on, but the winning entry totally nailed it. Both Danielle & I “picked it” without talking to each other. Here is the entry we chose.
“Take a blast to the past! If your memory serves you well, and it should relive your first date. Where did you meet, what restaurant did you go to (is it still around?), what did you do afterwards?
Remap this special moment, and do your best to make it the same way it was when it first happened. Is this romantic? ABSOLUTELY, it also shows that you care, and most of all, you remembered your first date!!! Also have your favorite DJ make you a cd to play in the car on the way of your favorite songs during that time
Happy 9th Anniversary Alex & Danielle!!!!!!” – Andrea Brown
This date idea fits us perfectly and we are really looking forward to it. Also, bonus points for Andrea working her husband Casy Brown’s kick butt DJ skills into the idea. Apparently CMB Music not only does wedding, but also 9 year mix tapes.
Congrats Andrea.
Next up is our little Mini-Cation we took as a family this past weekend. I had a wedding in Galveston as well as a day after session and an engagement session in Houston so I figured we should all load up and head that way. Here 9 photos and 1 run on sentence describing our weekend. Sometimes we jump on the hotel beds when mom is not around, astronaut ice cream is fun, feeding sea gulls is more fun, Eli can stay awake for desert but not space ships, Jo found a big stick and Sara conquered her fear of the ocean, but above all brochures in hotels lobbies are the coolest.

AND FINALLY…. I got this little question from a bride and thought I’d toss it out to all you blog-stalkers out there.
Dear Mr Wedding Expert,

Dear Sleepy but Sleepless, here’s a “old wives cure” guaranteed to make you fall into bed exhausted, and sleep through the night. Here’s how it works: First, get up by 7 a.m., and come directly over to my house. Your day will begin by taking care of two little boys (ages 4 & 5), caring for 3 large dogs (feed, water, take outside, play with), cleaning the house (free floor of crumbs from said little boys and dog hair from aforementioned dogs, etc), cook, run errands (bank, grocery store, etc), shuttle children around to karate lessons, birthday parties, various appointments, more cooking, more cleaning, pay some bills, pick up toys, nag grown man who lives in the house who just got home, water yard, bathe children, let dogs in, followed by a very brief shower. At that point, I can assure you, you will drift off to dreamland and all your wedding worries will escape your mind. I am happy to help you in your sleepless plight, so I will see you tomorrow morning?
Simply sleep…doesn’t leave u feeling groggy! Prayer!
And Sleepy but Sleepless, I was only kidding, not making fun of your plight
I suggest just relaxing, going with it, and have faith your day is going to be amazing (whether it is perfect or not!).
To Sleeping Beauty,
I was convinced I had a sleeping disorder. I couldn’t go to sleep before 3am. It was to the point I almost went to the doctor. When I was checking out at Wal-Mart I spotted Equate brand Nighttime Sleep Aid Max Strength. Now I sleep like a champ. I pop 2 around 9 pm and it takes about an hour to kick in, but I almost fall asleep walking to bed. Give it a try, it’s only $5. Also, rest assured your wedding is in good hands with Alex M!
Hey Sleepy but Sleepless,
Congrats, and best of luck!
I am 9 days away from my BIG day… I have given up on stressing out, and sleepless nights, as I have come to the realization that even with my obsessive attention to detail… something WILL go wrong and unplanned things WILL happen on my wedding day. However, at the end of the day, I will have married the most amazing man I have ever met. To me, that’s all that is going to count… the rest will just make for funny stories that we will, one day, tell our children. AND, if those thoughts don’t help, try tylenol PM, works wonders. Or, a glass of wine, my favorite cure
Sleeplessness (coming from a regular insomniac and someone 2 days away from my own wedding):
1. Make a list of EVERYTHING that’s left to do. Not even things you have to do… Things you can delegate… But make a list before you go to sleep. Even if it’s big, it’s so helpful to just have it all written down!
2. Melatonin… Not tylenol pm. Warm glasses of milk make my stomach turn just thinking about then. Melatonin is better for you than Tylenol pm & REALLY works. Take 2 about an hour before you want to go to bed.
I still have two more nights to get through.. But this is what’s worked for me so far!!!!!
