Here are some of the shots from the family session I was able to do for the Carrs.  The crazy things about this session was that I had a total of 5 minutes with the family to photograph them.  I was also not given any “prep” as to where the location would be or what time of day it would happen.  They would pull a kid or the parents for us at random times of the day and say, “You have a few minutes.”  Then right before lunch time they said “Here is the family.”  It was by far the toughest shooting environment I have ever been in and it makes those “rushed” formals I shoot at weddings seem like a breeze. In fact, when they look for who the photographer will be to shoot the family on each show, they typically choose a wedding photographer over a family photographer because they know we tend to be able to work very, very fast. I did have the help of Tammy Williams of Clarity Photography and could not have done it without her.  (Many, many thanks, Tammy.)

I also wanted to share a few behind the scenes photos.  These are to show you just how crowded and on the fly one of these shows is while being filmed.  This first one is one of my favorites.  As they were about to knock on the door, someone mention the tree was kinda in the way of a shot.  30 seconds later this guy runs in, saws it down and runs out.

[One side note... I'm pretty sure I'm the worst client in the world.  From the moment the session ended I was totally stalking her blog checking, checking, and re-checking to see when they would be there.  To all my brides and grooms out there.  I know how you feel.]

When Kristin & I started chatting about shooting her and her sisters, I got all excited.  This session was a blast, so let’s jump right to the images.

That’s right ladies and gentlemen.  A little bit of Zac Effron never hurt a photograph.  He must have heard these beautiful single ladies were in town and came by for a visit.

I still had The Mug Machine in my car from Heather & Blake’s wedding, and I figured it was just what these girls needed. So we drove over to the church where their mom works and set it up for a few shots.

At this point Zac became a bit of a stalker.  He must have somehow followed us back because he showed up out of nowhere and insisted on getting in on a few more shots.

Once their mom came out, Zac split.  (I think he was intimidated.)

Seriously, how gorgeous are all 5 of these ladies?!

I was contacted a few weeks ago about doing some behind the scenes shooting for when EMHE would be filmed.  I jumped at the chance and could not wait to get started.  This also led to me being able to photograph the Carr family before they went on vacation.  The show likes to do some family portraits so they have tons of images to fill up the new house.  (That is a crazy blog post with a story all of it’s own that I’ll tell you about later.)

It has been a blast being “on set” the past few days and here are just a few of the shots I’ve captured.

Oh…. I guess the main reason you stuck with the post was because you were hoping to see a photo of Ty right?  Here is a shot of him right after they showed up and told the Carr’s they were getting a new house.

Tammy is an incredible children’s photographer. I have known her for a little over a year and always love to take a look at her blog and see what she is up to. She’s just opened a studio in downtown Tyler and is currently re-doing her website so it was time for a few updated family shots. Even though she is surrounded by men she still manages to rock her inner-diva every now and then. Seriously, if you need photos taken of your small people, she is the one to go to.

Anytime you start a session with people upside-down it’s a good thing.

I am not a newborn or children’s photographer. I have no idea what to do with little people, how to pose them, or where to put them. I do not enjoy the looming possibility of getting pee-ed on during a photo shoot. All this little session did was make me more thankful for my grown up people that I get to work with every week.
