So typically I only do lots of detail shots at weddings, but Jessica & Rob had amazing details at their engagement session and I just had to shoot them.

Rob also does some Mixed Martial Arts training at Lone Star MMA Gym in Tyler.  He could basically beat me up with his left calf.

Jessica has a few moves of her own.

I had so much stinking fun with Christina & Josh.  I don’t even know where to begin.  How about no talking from me and we get right to the images…

When they mentioned that they both loved Legos, I knew right away I wanted to head to a mall with a Lego store.

Some people update their Facebook relationship status, but Christina & Josh knew this was the real deal when they merged their Lego VIP Points.
True story.

I’m not sure what the store behind them is going to sell.  My guess is children’s shorts for 20 foot tall women.

So, every so often I get couples who are so cool and amazing that I can’t wait to get home and edit their images. I had a feeling that Ashley and Brock would be one of these couples. We had only had a few phone calls and some E-mails prior to her booking but when she sent in one of her payments with this post it note attached I started to extra like them.

One of the things I ask my couples is what do you guys like to do together. Some bowl, others play tennis, some are musical. I love capturing couples in their element. Sometimes people say “We just like to sit on the couch and watch movies.” That’s an OK answer, but not really something that would be amazing to photograph.

When I asked Ashley the question, this is the E-mail I got back:

“okay, so we’ve been thinking.. and this is the list we’ve come up with..
-We like to cook together and probably the thing we cook the most is spaghetti
-Try different wines
-Bowling
-Look at the stars (corny i know, haha but true!)
-Playing this dart game called killer
-Traveling/driving around together
-Getting ice cream
-Volleyball, Knockout (basketball), throwing a football around
-Board games
-Watch movies
-Go to football/basketball games”

I tried to figure a way to work ALL of these into a session but soon gave up and just went with the first one.

This will be a great photo once they are married. She can PROVE that he is capable of cleaning and remind him that he used to do it.

We then headed out into Aggieland for some “real” engagement photos.

This was their first time walking under the Century Tree.


These next two are great. I’m not sure what was happening in the first.
The second is how I feel Ashley negotiates with Brock anytime she wants anything.

Oh, one more thing… Since these two were so much fun to work with I went ahead and edited their WHOLE Session! That’s right, less than 24 hours after shooting it, it’s done and online!

Hello my name is Marshall and I would marry Kristin just to look at her eyes forever.

This is Duncan their dog. He almost ate my head when I got in the car with them.

I’m always looking for good spots to shoot. I was pretty thankful someone marked this one for me.

OK, so begining part of their story happened at Wal-mart where on night many moons ago they “exchanged digits”, as Kristin says. So when she suggested doing some there I was all over that idea.

I love the guy behind them. He’s thinking… “maybe I should get some fruit snacks.”

Hello, my name is Marshall and I am very serious about my fruit snacks.

So… for those of you new around here, once a month I’ll pick a session that is so freaking gnarly that I can’t wait to edit and get the images back to the couple.

The second are the people who are so stinking cool you wish everyone else was like them. Erin & Chris are prime examples of type 2.

These two rocked my socks off pretty much all session long. Every time I kept thinking the session could not be going better, they would take it to another level and up the ante.  They are my first wedding of 2010 so the rest of my 2010 couples better bring the funk if they wanna keep up with these two.

Let me be very clear, I pretty much think I have cornered the market on great couples, but to earn a Same Day Edit you pretty much have to ooze with coolness. So what is it that pushed them over the top? Was it the fact that during our session they got like 3 or 4 txt messages asking when their engagement session would be online? Was it the fact that they both have iPhones? Was it the fact that Erin has eyes that are so great they might get their own session? Yes, yes, and yes.

Anyway, after their session, I hung out with some friends in Tyler till around 10PM, then had to drive home to Palestine and it’s around 2AM the next day, so technically it’s not the “Same Day”  but it is within 24 hours so that’s close enough.

Before we get to that, here are a few of my personal favorites. Jacob won back to back state golf titles in high school and plays for SFA as well.
Like any good bride she did a few special shots for him.  

After a few tries her mom figured out how to toss them in the air and NOT have them land on her head.  

Her brother Daniel was at the course while we were shooting and he stopped by to say hello. He was too cool NOT to photograph. He’s off to ATM next year. Ladies, get in line.  

We then headed to her house for the rest of the session.  

AMAZING eyes!
