OK peoples it’s that time again. Time to look back on the best images from last year and pick your favorites. Voting will continue throughout the week with new categories every day. Sometimes I feel bad charging people money for what I do. I mean take this session for instance. I got to hang out with cool people, run around Kyle Field, play Skip-Bo, and eat at Freebirds. I mean really. I should have paid them. How awesome are these two?

Did we bust out onto Kyle Field and shoot a ton of images? Why yes. Yes we did.

We then headed over to where they had their first date.

Josh proposed over a game of Skip-Bo. 50 cool points for him.

Oh, and if Denise looks familiar it’s because I shot her brother’s wedding earlier this year.

Engagement Photography: The Top 10 of 2010

What up party people? You know what time it is. It’s Top 10 time. That’s right, it’s time to take a quick look back at 2010 and see what some of the best images were. We will be looking at a 5 categories this week and we are kicking it off with some smoking hot engagement images.

Quick run down of the rules. You can vote on each category once. There will be a new category every day this week. Then the polls are closed and the winners will be announced Jan 17th. Each category winner will receive a 16×20 print of their winning image. So pick an image, vote, then get on your Twitter and your Facebook and make your friends come vote.

These two met while performing a a local theater. Where else would we go for their engagement session?

Each cast signs the wall backstage. Their first show together was Thoroughly Modern Millie.

I have to be honest. I think I have the best job ever. I got home from the State Fair and woke up and went to a golf course. Not bad eh.

These two love them some golf so that’s where we started. Jessica has recently taken it up and told me she plans on practicing till she is able to beat Derek. (Sounds like the beginning of a great marriage.)

2009 April Rewind

So I’m thinking of starting a new little tradition here on the site. Once a month I’ll feature my 10 favorite images from a same month 1 year ago. (Wow, I feel like I made that sentence much more confusing than it needed to be.)

I think it’s important for brides to see a “history” of work. Anyone with a decent camera can shoot a good image every now and then. However, shooting a wedding week in and week out is what really helps me “know” what’s going to happen next on your day. So, this is a way of showing you that I’ve been shooting for a little while, and it’s also a way for my past brides to flaunt their stuff on my blog again.

Anyway, here they are, in no particular order, my favorite images from April 2009.

Engagement Photography College Station, TX | Ashley & Brock (SDE!)

So, every so often I get couples who are so cool and amazing that I can’t wait to get home and edit their images. I had a feeling that Ashley and Brock would be one of these couples. We had only had a few phone calls and some E-mails prior to her booking but when she sent in one of her payments with this post it note attached I started to extra like them.

One of the things I ask my couples is what do you guys like to do together. Some bowl, others play tennis, some are musical. I love capturing couples in their element. Sometimes people say “We just like to sit on the couch and watch movies.” That’s an OK answer, but not really something that would be amazing to photograph.

When I asked Ashley the question, this is the E-mail I got back:

“okay, so we’ve been thinking.. and this is the list we’ve come up with..
-We like to cook together and probably the thing we cook the most is spaghetti
-Try different wines
-Bowling
-Look at the stars (corny i know, haha but true!)
-Playing this dart game called killer
-Traveling/driving around together
-Getting ice cream
-Volleyball, Knockout (basketball), throwing a football around
-Board games
-Watch movies
-Go to football/basketball games”

I tried to figure a way to work ALL of these into a session but soon gave up and just went with the first one.

This will be a great photo once they are married. She can PROVE that he is capable of cleaning and remind him that he used to do it.

We then headed out into Aggieland for some “real” engagement photos.

This was their first time walking under the Century Tree.

These next two are great. I’m not sure what was happening in the first.
The second is how I feel Ashley negotiates with Brock anytime she wants anything.

Oh, one more thing… Since these two were so much fun to work with I went ahead and edited their WHOLE Session! That’s right, less than 24 hours after shooting it, it’s done and online!
