I had such a great time with these two running around Dallas. Here are a few of my favorites.

I told them to pretend they were at home watching a movie and Jennifer said that would mean Jeb was rubbing her feet.

When I asked Jeb to sqat down for a photo, he immediately went into Backstreet Boys Mode.

Kim The Super Bride: The One Year Interview

Kim & Josh were one of my favorite couples I’ve been able to shoot. You may recognize them from my promo video on my About page.
I had a chance to catch up with Kim about 1 year after her wedding.
She shared her thoughts on picking vendors, what to look for in a photographer, and a few budget tips.

I started doing this last month and got a good little response so I think a tradition has been born. It’s time to jump back to May of 2009 and take a look at some of my favorite images from the month. It’s crazy for me to think that I shot these frames last year, some of them only feel like I took them 3 months ago.

It’s been a little while since I have done a Same Day Edit! Those only happen when a couple is so radical they FORCE me to stop everything else I am working on and get their WHOLE session edited and blogged only hours after I have finished shooting. I had a hunch Jessica & Rob where going to become a SDE! the moment they got out of the car and they did not disappoint.

Here are a few with “Sarge”. I love how he just leads Jessica where ever he wants to go.

I love this shot.

So typically I only do lots of detail shots at weddings, but Jessica & Rob had amazing details at their engagement session and I just had to shoot them.

Rob also does some Mixed Martial Arts training at Lone Star MMA Gym in Tyler. He could basically beat me up with his left calf.

Jessica has a few moves of her own.

Britni was one of my first brides to book for 2011. She booked back in August of 2009 so I feel like I have known her forever. I was so excited to finally get to do a session for her. Tristin always keeps her laughing and these two have a serious sense of style. I am already looking forward to their wedding at the Villa di Felicita next year.

Once upon a time Kiffany was 14 and Adam was 17 and she went to the staking rink where Adam worked and he totally hit on her even though she had a boyfriend…

They grew up and got engaged. Now Adam is a fireman and Kiffany comes up to the Fire Station and Adam hits on her there.

2009 April Rewind

So I’m thinking of starting a new little tradition here on the site. Once a month I’ll feature my 10 favorite images from a same month 1 year ago. (Wow, I feel like I made that sentence much more confusing than it needed to be.)

I think it’s important for brides to see a “history” of work. Anyone with a decent camera can shoot a good image every now and then. However, shooting a wedding week in and week out is what really helps me “know” what’s going to happen next on your day. So, this is a way of showing you that I’ve been shooting for a little while, and it’s also a way for my past brides to flaunt their stuff on my blog again.

Anyway, here they are, in no particular order, my favorite images from April 2009.

Engagement Photography Tyler | Megan & Brandon

A little known secret about photographing people is that once you’ve done it long enough, you can typically spot when couples are nervous within about 5 minutes of their session starting. I picked up on Brandon being nervous in about 2 minutes. I could tell this was not his favorite way to spend a wednesday morning, but he was there and would try to make the best of it. But, once we got going he started to loosen up. By the end of the session he was a natural. Super comfortable and almost seemed to be enjoying himself. As I got in the car to leave, my phone buzzed and in came this txt message from Megan.

It made my day. That is my goal at these sessions. I want my couples to have fun; I want it to be relaxed; and I want them to know that when the wedding day rolls around, the photography is one thing they won’t have to dread. Glad I was able to convince you Brandon.
